5 Amazing New LinkedIn Features for 2024
LinkedIn may not be the newest or sexiest social media platform, but if you’re selling a B2B service or targeting executives, corporate professionals, or business owners, it’s absolutely the place to be. And just because it’s been around for more than a hot minute, doesn’t mean there aren’t continually new LinkedIn features that can help you up your marketing and networking game.
LinkedIn may have launched over twenty years ago, but it continues to be relevant and competitive with flashier platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. You may not have reels dancing across your screen, but for professional and B2B networking, it is very much still the place to be.
In fact, some of the new LinkedIn features in 2024 are exactly what your business needs to elevate your marketing, reach new audiences, and connect to your customers.
Here are 5 Amazing New LinkedIn Features for 2024 that you may have missed but need to check out!
New LinkedIn Features #1: The Creator Mode Will Vanish
This is the major change that LinkedIn (and almost everyone who uses LinkedIn to grow their brand and business) has been talking about. LinkedIn will get rid of the creator mode and make all the creator tools available to everyone
Here’s what it will mean for you:
Your about section will move to the top of your profile so that people can easily grasp your professional story.
Your featured section will go down. It simply won’t be the first thing people see when they visit your profile. You can still keep it updated with your latest projects, articles, and PR for others to see.
You won’t have profile hashtags anymore. Simplifying your introduction section.
Everyone will be able to choose between follow and connect as their main CTA button on their profile. You will have a single-click option to have your profile visitors either follow you or connect with you, depending on your goals. And you can switch between the two anytime.
Literally all the benefits of the creator mode (you’ll be able to view analytics, suggestions, create newsletters, and more) without any of the downfalls (compulsory presence of the follow button instead of the connect).
Now that’s what I call a win-win.
New LinkedIn Features #2: A dedicated services section in your profile
Another new LinkedIn feature in 2024 (that hasn’t rolled out everywhere yet) is a dedicated services section for your profile. You know this little section at the top of your profile that immediately tells everyone what it is that you do? 🔽🔽
That now has its own dedicated space.
While it hasn’t rolled out for me yet, it has for our copywriter (in Italy) and it looks something like this 🔽
And when you click on ‘show all’ it leads to a dedicated services page with the option to:
Set up your prices
Request reviews
Upload work samples
Add up to 8 media formats to showcase your skills and experience (or in case of coaches and course creators, showcase their offers😉)
This will give your audience a chance to explore more of what you do without leaving LinkedIn. They’ll be able to see what you offer at a glance and get social proof at the same time!
New LinkedIn Features # 3: (Content type ▼) filter added to (Post ▼)
This may seem like a simple update, but in the past, if you wanted to search for information on a certain term, you had to go through each and every type of post LinkedIn showed you. Now, you have the option to filter the post by content type. You will be able to sort the posts by ◯ Video, ◯ Images, ◯ Job posts, ◯ Newsletters, ◯ Live videos, ◯ Documents.
Your audience will be able to select the type of content they want to view.
New LinkedIn Features #4: Multiple newsletters for one account
Initially, LinkedIn only allowed only one newsletter per personal or business page. Now, you can create and post articles for up to 5 different newsletters on topics of your choice. So if you have more than one business or two (or more) different sets of audiences, you can have different, targeted newsletters for them. Sounds too good to be true? Check out what LinkedIn has to say about it.
Need a good reason to start a LinkedIn newsletter? I have 5! Plus, ways to optimize your newsletter for your brand and profile.
New LinkedIn Features #5: Custom Buttons!
Okay, this one is a premium feature, but boy, it is good. You can now add a custom button to the top of your profile next to the follow/connect button. On your personal profile, it gives you the options to:
Visit your store
Visit your website
View your portfolio
View your blog
Book an appointment
Depending on your business and content marketing goals, you can include any one of the options to your custom button and encourage your visitors to take immediate action. Earlier, they would have to go looking for this information and may give up. This gives them the information they need at their fingertips.
Other LinkedIn Features Worth a Mention:
LinkedIn added (or upgraded) dozens of other features in 2024. Here are a few more that are worth noting as a coach, course creator, or service provider.
LinkedIn premium gives you an option to write with AI. This includes sections on your profile as well as connection notes and messages.
You get to see who has viewed your profile since your last post. This allows you to see which type of post brings more people to your profile, so you can make more of those posts. This is another premium feature though.
You can now add up to 100 skills (instead of 50) in your skills section.
You can now remind yourself of a LinkedIn event you’re planning to attend through the add-to-calendar and email reminder features, which are now part of the LIVE & Audio Events Top card.
Very soon, you might be able to create Instagram-like short videos as a part of LinkedIn Daily (more on that later).
